What Volunteers Do

Usually, volunteer duties and a rough programme are worked out beforehand on a mutual understanding and a working schedule is delineated in the first few days of the volunteer’s arrival. Tasks are carried out with the assistance of a staff counterpart, and short meetings are held on a regular basis to evaluate progress.

When possible, volunteers are encouraged to bring a laptop computer, as office computer resources seem to be always in use! Volunteers are to dedicate a minimum of 3 weeks for their stay, free of charge at the MEDASSET office in Athens. Working hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. The MEDASSET office is located in the centre of Athens and has a guestroom with a single bed, a kitchen and a bathroom with all amenities. Sheets, towels and laundry services are provided by MEDASSET. At the outcome of their stay, volunteers are requested to submit a short report of their experience. If required, a recommendation letter may be provided.

If you would like to know more about volunteering opportunities contact us at medasset(at)medasset.org, please add "Volunteering" in the e-mail subject line. This is a popular programme with a high number of applicants.

Ongoing Needs

Volunteers with skills and interests in IT, web design, graphic design and communications, translations (Turkish, Albanian, Arabic) are especially needed. MEDASSET also welcomes online volunteers who can support our cause by offering their skills, free time and knowledge through an internet-based collaboration.

Students

Students of various fields of study are welcome to collaborate with MEDASSET: you can carry out research related to your studies and MEDASSET’s work or complete your thesis/dissertation on a subject related to MEDASSET’s activities. Unfortunately, we cannot fund students but research the web and you will find several international, regional, European and national research and thesis funding sources for students of all levels.
